Food Network +1: Jamie's American Road Trip
Having sampled some of America's most diverse dietary offerings, Jamie Oliver sets out in search of the country's cheapest culinary treats. In Georgia, he meets family members who have been growing, killing and cooking their own food for generations, and asks them to lend him their expertise at a barbecue contest in Florida. He also encounters the cake-baking Sex and Savannah women, and visits a soul food restaurant struggling to survive in harsh financial times.
Jamie Oliver uses a variety of carrots in an Indian salad, demonstrates how they can be used to complement a pork chop and discovers why the vegetable is orange. He then prepares foil-roasted smoked beetroot with beef and a cottage cheese dressing.
